EMDR THERAPIST IN AURORA & ACROSS CO

Feel safe in your mind and body again.

EMDR therapy to put the past to rest and rebuild trust in yourself.

Your emotions feel like they’re all over the place.

One moment, you’re completely overwhelmed, like everything is too much to handle. The next, you're emotionally numb, unable to feel anything at all. Sleep is no better, either—nightmares or flashbacks keep you awake, taking you right back to painful memories and all of the things you wish you could forget.

When things don’t go as planned, it can feel like your life is falling apart. Seemingly small things turn into big emotional reactions, and there you are again, fighting with your partner or pushing people away without really meaning to. You're not sure why it’s so hard to trust yourself, or even “feel” like yourself anymore, but something is definitely off.

You’re overwhelmed and truthfully, fucking tired of feeling this way.

It’s time to say goodbye to everything getting in the way of your peace—you don’t have to stay stuck anymore.

Because let’s face it:

The past may have shaped you, but it doesn’t have to define you.

HOW IT WORKS

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a therapeutic method that helps people process and heal from painful or traumatic experiences. The goal of EMDR is to reduce the emotional charge tied to memories, allowing your brain to store those experiences as memories, rather than keeping them as ongoing emotional triggers. This process helps you move forward without being held back by past events.

In my practice, I use a combination of EMDR and Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT) to guide clients toward healing. First, we build a solid foundation using EFIT, which is all about exploring your experiences in a safe and affirming way. This helps us understand how your past experiences affect you today—both emotionally and physically (AKA: why you feel like shit!). By understanding how these experiences have shaped your present, we can work together to create a safe space for healing.

Once we’ve established that foundation, we dive into the EMDR process. I’ll guide you to focus on a specific memory or event that’s been weighing on you. We use a visual aid, often a small ball that moves side to side on the screen, but there are other ways to accommodate if that doesn’t feel right for you. As you follow the movement, your brain begins to process the memory in a new way. We start with the event you’ve chosen, then explore the connections related to it—sometimes the links are obvious, but other times, they can be surprising. This back-and-forth process helps your brain re-organize the memory, making it less emotionally intense and easier to cope with.

With EMDR, you don’t have to relive every detail of the trauma. Instead, it works with your brain to help you move past the emotional intensity and regain a sense of control. Over time, this leads to less stress, making it easier to manage triggers and respond to situations with more balance and calm. It’s an empowering way to help you move from a place of emotional overwhelm to one of clarity and peace, so you can live with more freedom and less weight from the past.
